Paper bags and kraft packaging for bakeries and sandwich shops
4 min read
Bags with or without handles, sandwich bags, baking paper and kraft boxes - how to choose packaging for baked goods, sandwiches and burgers.

Why paper and kraft for baked goods
Paper breathes, so bread, burek and pastries stay crispy longer than in a plastic bag, where steam condenses. Kraft paper is strong, looks natural and gives customers the feeling of a fresh, homemade product.
For your business that means a better-looking counter and packaging customers associate with quality.
Bags with handles: for several items and carrying
Paper bags with handles are for customers who buy several items or boxes, such as a cake, pastries or a takeaway order. Choose the size by your most common order, not the largest.
- Smaller bag (about 22×28 cm) - for 1-2 boxes or a few pastries
- Larger bag (about 32×38 cm) - for bigger orders and food boxes
- Bags usually come per box (e.g. 250 bags), check the product description
Sandwich and toast bags
For sandwiches, toast, croissants and single pastries, small kraft bags without handles are the most practical. They fill fast, close by folding and keep the product hygienic while carried.
For greasy products use grease-resistant paper or place a sheet of baking paper inside so the bag doesn't soak through.
Baking and wrapping paper
Baking paper is used in the oven, but also at the counter - to wrap burek or pizza slices, or as a liner in a box. Sheets are faster in a bakery, while a roll is better when you need different lengths.
Kraft boxes for burgers, hot dogs and salads
Sandwich shops and fast food also use kraft boxes alongside bags. A burger box keeps the shape, a hot dog box is long and narrow, and kraft containers with lids are for salads and hot takeaway meals.
- Burger - clamshell box, keeps heat and shape
- Hot dog and wraps - long narrow box
- Fries - kraft cone or cup
- Salad and hot meal - kraft container with lid, some with a window
Quick checklist for a bakery or sandwich shop
Most bakeries do well with a small, proven range.
- 1-2 sizes of bags with handles
- Sandwich/toast bags for single items
- Baking paper in sheets or a roll
- Kraft burger or hot dog boxes if you sell hot sandwiches
- Before a large order, test with your own product
